The Constantine Basilica, also known as the Aula Palatina, was built in the 4th century AD as the throne room of Emperor Constantine the Great. It was not a religious building, but the political heart of the Roman provincial capital – here the emperor ruled, received envoys, and demonstrated the power of the Roman Empire.
With over 70 meters in length, 27 meters in width, and 33 meters in height, the building still impresses today with its clear, monumental architecture – a masterpiece that does not rely on supporting columns and focuses entirely on spatial impact.
